The 2011-2012 4K "Future 4 Waukesha" program is community and school based. Community partners such as area preschools, private schools, childcare programs, etc., provide District 4K classrooms. 4K classrooms are available at three elementary schools in addition to the community partner sites. 4K is a voluntary, comprehensive child development program providing an enrichment opportunity for all four-year-old children and their families prior to 5-year-old kindergarten. 4K programs operate Monday through Friday. Parent involvement events are offered.
Children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2011 to be eligible for the 2011-2012 Future 4 Waukesha 4K program.
With multiple school and community partner sites offering 4K classrooms, consistent understanding of what we expect children in 4K to be able to do, and to show what they know, is especially critical. The "anchor documents" for standardizing, understanding, tracking, recording and reporting individual child progress through the 4K school year are shown below. Most 4K program sites offer their program five days per week for approximately 2.5 hours per day.
