Waukesha School District Environmental Education

 

"The goals of Environmental Education is to help students become environmentally knowledgeable, skilled, dedicated citizens who are willing to work individually and collectively toward achieving and maintaining a dynamic equilibrium between the quality of life and quality of the environment." Wis. Dept. Of Public Instruction.

Who we are?
Environmental Education in the School District of Waukesha is a multi -facited program, it involves:

Great learning environment.

  • K-12 Environmental Education curriculum (connected to all grade levels and subject areas)
  • K-8 Fox River Sanctuary Program (field study program)
  • Outdoor Education Program (resident 2 day camping program for 6th graders)

Environmental education curriculum is connected to all curricular areas and helps students meet the state performance standards in Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts.

  • Provides hands-on field experiences, where classroom concepts, knowledge and skills are applied and developed.
  • Provides students and staff resources for classroom and field study.
  • Developed and maintains a habitat display (with cave) and live animal room.
