School District of Waukesha 4K "Future 4 Waukesha" Program Implemented

The 2010-2011 4K "Future 4 Waukesha" program will be community and school based. Community partners such as area preschools, private schools, childcare programs, etc. currently provide District 4K classrooms. Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, 4K classrooms will be available at three elementary schools in addition to the community partner sites. 4K is a voluntary, comprehensive child development program providing an enrichment opportunity for all four-year-old children and their families prior to 5-year-old kindergarten. 4K programs operate Monday through Friday.

Children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2010 to be eligible for the 2010-2011 Future 4 Waukesha 4K program.

With multiple school and community partner sites running 4K classrooms, consistent understanding of what we expect children in 4K to be able to do, and to show what they know, is especially critical.  The work crafted over the summer of '09 by a representative committee of 4K program staff, school district Kindergarten Readiness and Kindergarten staff, resulted in three important documents- these are "anchor documents" for standardizing, understanding, tracking, recording and reporting individual child progress through the 4K school year. To view the anchor documents, click on the title.
